Now that most of the United States is still in partial lockout, people are turning to other forms of entertainment, including makeup and personal care. Jeffree Star took the opportunity to launch a new product recently, however, the reception of his product name did not go as planned.
E! Online announced today that Jeffree Star has launched a new product with the name “Cremated”. Shortly after Jeffree revealed the new line of products, people on social media criticized the beauty YouTuber for the supposedly numb name in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.Jeffree Star Slammed On Social Media For Naming His Cosmetic Launch ‘Cremated’ Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
One Instagram user, in particular, said it felt a bit “tacky” because of the ongoing coronavirus that killed several thousand Americans this year. Another described the title as “deaf-tone” for the same reasons.
Many other social media users have made similar comments. In defense of Jeffree, the makeup artist filed her mark in September 2019, long before the coronavirus pandemic began to make its way in the United States.
Critics claimed that, despite everything, Jeffree could have waited a few more months to launch the new product. Whatever your position on the matter, it’s clear that many Jeffree fans are put off by his choice in the title of his new makeup palette.
